"Providing a safe and stimulating environment
for children aged 3 months to 5 years"

Nursery Policies

BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT POLICY

Our Nursery believes that children flourish best when they know how they are expected to behave and should be free to play and learn without fear of being hurt or unfairly restricted by anyone else. We aim to provide an environment in which there is acceptable behavior and where children learn to respect themselves, other people and their environment.

  • We require all staff, volunteers and students to provide a positive model of behavior by treating children, parents and one another with friendliness, respect and courtesy.
  • We require all staff, volunteers and students to use positive strategies for handling any conflict by helping children find solutions in ways which are appropriate for the children's ages and stages of development - for example distraction, praise and reward

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN POLICY

At Cygnets we are fully committed to protecting all of the children in our care. It is the duty of all staff to safeguard the children in the nursery and to inform the Local Authority of any suspected case of abuse. The nursery will follow those procedures set out by the Local Authority.

EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY POLICY

Our nursery is committed to providing equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice for all children and families.

We aim to:

  • Provide a secure environment in which all our children can flourish and in which all contributions are valued.
  • Provide positive non-stereotyping information about different ethnic groups and People with disabilities.
  • Improve our knowledge and understanding of issues of equality and diversity.

SETTLING IN POLICY

We aim to ensure that your child has a positive experience in the nursery environment, that they feel happy and secure. We aim to work in partnership with parents to achieve this aim. Once a child is accepted by the Nursery arrangements will be made for short visits to the nursery with a parent/carer staying to reassure the child, the amount of visits will depend up-on the individual child (These short visits are free of charge). The Nursery staff work in partnership with the parents/carers to settle the children into the Nursery environment

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PARENTS

At Cygnets Nursery we believe that we can best meet the needs of individual children by working closely with parents/carers. We aim to develop partnerships which are based on mutual trust and respect and which promote the sharing of information and knowledge for the benefit of the children in our care.

FOOD AND NUTRITION POLICY

Children’s individual needs are fully discussed with parents and are catered for, and parent’s wishes are always adhered to. Alternatives are offered where necessary.
