The Swans Room - 2 to 5 years old

The Swans room for children aged 2–5 years is open plan to allow children freedom of movement. At this age we focus on developing children’s language, communication and physical skills as well as their social skills in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The emphasis in this room is that children learn through play and we encourage this by providing a range of experiences and activities informed by careful observation of the child’s individual developmental progress together with their interests and their likes and dislikes.

Play is absolutely essential for under fives and learning for this age group is through providing opportunities for play and experiences based on the Early Learning Goals of The Foundation Stage which are:

• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Physical Development
• Mathematical Development
• Knowledge and Understanding of the World
• Communication Language and Literacy
